YOU’RE INVITED! FEBRUARY, 2018 #17

We are so excited about our OPEN HOUSE/GRAND OPENING and we want you to join us. If you have not had a tour, now is the time – between 12:00 and 1:00 volunteers will show you around the haven. At 1:00 Joe Simpson, Pastor Cuyler and a client will participate in the ribbon cutting, followed by speeches, and then cake and conversation. Please show your support of those we assist and plan to attend.

OVERNIGHT SERVICE

The men’s haven has had some wonderful successes already – be sure to attend on Feb 19 and hear the highlights of how we are giving hope to the men who are struggling in our community by finding homes and work for them, in addition to a warm, safe and secure place to sleep.

A huge thank you is extended to those who volunteer overnight and give of their time. We could not fulfill our mission without your time and dedication.

STILL A NEED FOR VOLUNTEERS

If you would like to offer your time to Chatham Hope Haven, we would love to have you. You can supervise overnight, help with custodial work or greet folks in the reception area. Call us at 519 351-4010, tell us your skills and preferences, and we can find a position for you!

Volunteers for overnight supervision on a monthly basis is our greatest need – each shift runs from 7pm-7am, as well, 7-11 shifts are now available. You might sign on for a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly time slot, and a police check is required.

In addition, if you, or your group, wish to volunteer just once, or occasionally, to provide a meal or perform another service, please call the office at 519 351-4010.

OFFICE HOURS

7 days a week 10:30-6:30pm at 183 Wellington Street West

HOT DOG MONDAY and the Day Program is for both men and women in need. We could use donations of the following items: phone cards, bus passes, Tim cards, i Tunes, healthy snacks (a big need), hot dogs and buns, condiments and water. Immediate needs are often posted on our face book page, so keep a look out.

FUNDRAISERS

Looking ahead to April, the Merlin United Church will be hosting a $20 3pc Broasted Chicken Dinner with proceeds coming to the haven.

Please call the office if you have a fundraising idea, we would love to put your event on our calendar and help you in any way we can. Furthermore, if you would like to learn more about what we do and what we have planned for the future, a representative from the haven will be happy to speak to your church or group for a 15-20 minute presentation.

GENERAL MEETING

Saturday, February 10 – Our general meeting is held at 183 Wellington Street West at 1pm. (Joe promises this one will only be 1 hour long) All volunteers are encouraged to attend. Mark your calendar and plan to attend!

DONATIONS

Income tax receipts will go out soon. If you do not receive one, but feel that you should, please contact the office and we will assist you.

As recently reported, our food pantry needs more supplies. Cereals, canned pasta, canned fruit, puddings, soups and healthy snacks are all required. Also, perishables of bread and milk are needed as the men enjoy toast with hot and cold cereal in the mornings, and these items seem to go fast.

MONEY MONEY MONEY - We rely on volunteers, but we do have paid staff now as well so monetary donations are needed now, more than ever. You can contribute online through PayPal, or send a cheque to the office at 183 Wellington Street West, or come by in person. All donations over $20 are eligible for an income tax receipt.
